An anthropological study on how young people with physical disabilities experience disability and discrimination in Latvia and Lithuania has been carried out in cooperation with the Lithuanian Applied Anthropology Organisation “Anthropos”.

Young people with disabilities participated not only in the data collecting using the photovoice method (taking and talking about photos), but also in the coding, analysis, and other stages of the study.
They gained new research knowledge, expressed their views on the issues through discussions, video filming, exhibition production, improved their photography and picture editing skills, and went on an exchange trip to Lithuania.

During the project:
✅ 2 discussions with the participation of young people and researchers have taken place at the National Library of Latvia: “The road to inclusion: the experience of young people with physical disabilities” and the LAMPA Conversation Festival: “Where do young people with disabilities stay?”,
✅ 4 exhibitions in Latvia and Lithuania with young people’s photos and stories,
✅ 6 video stories of Latvian and Lithuanian young people – https://youtube.com/@tavsatbalstsfonds?feature=shared,
✅ an information brochure on the photovoice method, encouraging professionals to use it with young people

✅ a digital catalogue containing the results of the study as well as the photographs exhibited

But that’s not all – after the project is over, 4 more exhibitions in Latvian cities and participation in the Democracy Festival are planned, continuing the work to promote inclusion.
